After a very long and arduous journey with a wonderful and relaxingthinks transit in Abu Dhabi we arrive in Casablanca, a five hour drive finally gets us to our destination of Essaouira. Situated on the Atlantic Coast of Morocco this is a wonderful place to start our trip. France-Marie and Jean-Paul were here to greet us with a wonderdful Moroccan lunch (Chicken with olives and potato tagine) followed by a dessert of Creme Caramel and the traditional finish to any Moroccan meal, Mint tea.

The drive here was pretty ordinary, barren land, lots of small poor villages and many donkeys to be seen. The contrast of two worlds colliding is amazing. Here I am on WIFI blogging and just over the fence of Pierres Sauvages (The place we are staying at) there is a village of about 10 houses and the local shepherdess was herding her goats and sheep past us yesterday morning.

France-Marie and Jean-Paul have looked after us very well. Yesterday we went into the town of Essaouira and were shown the best place to buy fish, meat, vegetables and the local supermarket. We had the cook Ashuba cook the fish we bought in the morning for our lunch by the pool.

This is such a contrast to our life at home. Thomas said he would love to live here. Doesn't care about a Playstation or a TV. I did remind him that there would be no school life like at Wesley. And that is the only thing he said that would bother him. I was quite surprised but goes to show that children are so adaptable. Lucas and Allanah have taken everything into their stride, enjoying the outdoorsy life, playnig on the swings, hanging out in the pool and amusing themselves. That's all for now, we will keep you all posted .....Bye from the Higgs'......
